Leaving Behind Anxiety, Finding Balance

I help people who are overwhelmed feel peace and connection in their lives without the fear of judgement.

My clients struggle like you do. Despite being kind, clever, and thoughtful life is hard.

When they first come in, they often are overtaken by the emotions of living in such a complex fast-paced world. They often worry about how others are doing and letting them down. The pressures of social media and political polarization leaves them exhausted. They feel frustrated, embarrassed, and helpless.

Their thoughts run on an endless loop that gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of person they want to be. They feel like they’re falling farther from the partner, friend, and family member they strive to be. And their confidence at work and home is tanking.

Before they came to see me, they felt embarrassed for feeling helpless and overwhelmed. They worried talking to a stranger would mean losing more control. The crushing fear of worry is paralyzing.

Like my clients you deserve to live a more calm and grounded life. The goal of handling the hustle of many demands while maintaining good boundaries and self-care is not out of your reach. If you want to feel more capable and in charge of your life, I’d love to help you get there.

You are ready for a change.

Imagine waking up tomorrow and life finally clicking into place. The problems that before seemed too large and heavy are now gone. You are now unburdened, light, and ready to take on life.

Meet Vinnie

Inner World Explorer

I come to therapy with the perspective of a creative traveller, having emigrated from Ireland to the United States early in life. I earned my undergraduate degree in English & Psychology from Oregon State University in 2003 and my graduate degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Portland State University in 2016. I then completed the required 2,400 hours of post-graduate degree clinical supervision to earn my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) accreditation from the State of Oregon’s Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists. I love the outdoors, live performance arts, and whales!

Counseling Specialties

Rogerian Therapy

My primary mode of talk-therapy is styled after Carl Rogers’ humanistic theory where I help to create a positive and safe space for you to work through the issues that are important to you as we partner together to reach your goals.

Sand-Tray Therapy

One of my favorite activities and interests is Sand Tray therapy where you will get to create or re-create your world externally in a fun and abstract way. This activity can be profoundly insightful and is particularly effective with creative people, introverts, and people who are cerebral or “stuck in their head”.

Genogram Activities

Finding our place in the world can be made easier when we can see ourselves in the context of the larger picture of our micro and macro worlds. Genogram activities are a great way to examine issues related to our family of origin and environment growing up and can be useful to examine some of our most important relationships.
